Welcome to Latimer Minster – at least our digital home.

We are a community of followers of Christ living out a pattern of life together; sanctuary, refectory, road. The Minster is geographically based at Stampwell Farm, HP92XD, here we are creating a sacred centre of prayer, worship, conservation and sustainability where people can encounter the living God in community. This is a Minster.

Minsters have always been centres for worship, prayer, work, and teaching as well as  extensive missionary activity and leadership training in England, since the Celts brought the gospel to our shores. Latimer Minster is located halfway between Oxford and London and by major transport links like Heathrow Airport and the M25. Yet we are also on a 70 acre farm. This allows us to be deeply rooted in a specific place and embedded in the seasons and soil of a farm which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book.

The Minster is a place where we come and go, and from where we plant and broadcast, serving the mission of God and the wider church. The Minster has a concerted emphasis on disciple making, spiritual formation and practical experience. We are the home of a network of micro churches, small groups of committed disciples and we also support larger forms of church too. We are committed to theological education, deep immersion in the scriptures and the importance of the preached word.

Visitors are welcome to walk and pray at the farm, come for personal or team retreat or

Latimer Minster

Latimer Minster was planted in 2010 by Frog and Amy Orr-Ewing and a team who were invited by the Bishop of Buckingham to come and found a Minster. Since 2020 the Minster has been ecumenical although our roots and patterns are clearly Anglican. Stampwell Farm has been the physical home of Latimer Minster since 2012, and since 2014 we have had use of a big top Marquee and several barns for worship, mission, outreach and conservation. From here we have helped support and launch numerous smaller charities, social enterprises, initiatives and churches throughout the UK and elsewhere in the world (link).

Daily prayer happens at 9.30 on weekday mornings in the Big Barn, there is a Shepherds Hut for prayer and study open 24/7 behind the Big Top and there is a guided prayer walk across the cherry orchards open to anyone during daylight hours. With a strong emphasis on hospitality, innovation, conservation of the environment and the vitality of the Christian story, the fruit of the Minster is of meaningful relationships with God, our neighbours and our neighbourhoods.

New Sunday morning Chapel services will be beginning in 2022 and 2023. If you would like to register interest in being a part of our future story you can do so by clicking here.

Latimer Minster: Patterns of Life

Sanctuary

God is glorified through our worship, work and creativity.

The Minster is a community welcoming the presence of the Living God in sung worship, corporate and individual prayer, liturgy and poetry, the visual arts, creative work and creation care.

Refectory

People matter to God and to us, every person is uniquely valued and welcomed often with food and definitely with good coffee (roasted on site at Stampwell by Nuach Coffee).

The Minster is a community of refuge from abuse, church politics, anxiety and the challenges we all face. Our homes are places of welcome and we believe in the principle of generosity.

Road

All of us come and go in our wok, our ministries and our family lives. The Minster is a home to return to and a dynamic community of moving parts and people. We value planting, we value itinerant ministry, we prioritise going, preaching, broadcasting and we are committed to our relational networks around the world.
